We utilize the best materials and a top of the line Dentsply Sirona Cerec CAD/CAM crown-making system to make zirconia oxide dental crowns in our own lab at the Carson & Acasio Dental Group Oxnard location. Spanish Hills Dentistry patients are welcome to schedule an appointment in Oxnard.

What's more, in most cases, we can send you home with a shiny new crown the same day.

When a dentist doesn’t have their own lab, the patient may not be receiving the best dental care available.

Ergo …

  1. It can take several days for a dentist to obtain the crown from an outside lab.

  2. Then, the patient needs to schedule another visit, perhaps having to wait until they are called advising the crown has arrived.

  3. The need for a crown may indicate a broken or cracked tooth. Thus, the dentist fits the patient with a temporary crown which often breaks or falls out resulting in yet another appointment. (Note, I speak from experience since I have had many crowns which were not made by our dentistry).

  4. Poorly made and installed crowns can lead to other issues like …

    1. They don’t fit well, either in the bite, or not having the proper spacing between other teeth for flossing.

    2. Also, if the crown isn’t fit and seated just right, or the root isn’t honed to perfection, decay may find its way under the crown leading to more problems down the line.

With our dentistry …

The process from start to finish is really fascinating. And we offer the most advanced crown-making system in dentistry. Here are a few slides of what our dentist sees as he makes your crown.

This article is meant to give you a glimpse and an overview of why you should consider the Carson & Acasio Dental Group for your crowns.

We have a very detailed page on our web site which is dedicated to our same-day crown service with plenty of images and a video, and the reasons why crowns may be a remedial option for you. Click here to take a peek at the page.

Here we go ...

  1. We prep the tooth properly for the crown using traditional dental techniques.

  2. Once the tooth is ready for the crown, we use a magic digital wand (also called an intra-oral scanner), and we take precise measurements and images of your teeth and mouth. If you have ever experienced that nasty, sticky, putty-like substance which some dentists still use to take impressions, you will be thrilled with our process.

  3. Then using more digital magic, the measurements and images we captured are viewed on a Dentsply Sirona Cerec CAD/CAM system in 3D and we use specialized software, and our skill and experience, to design the perfect crown for you.

  4. Once your dentist is totally satisfied with the image he created for your crown, it is sent to a machine which mills it. Then it is baked at a very high temperature, polished and prepped for installation into your mouth.

  5. Once your mouth has been scanned, It takes 2-3 hours for the crown to be designed and finished.

  6. During this process, you are welcome to relax in our reception area. But you may also leave and return later in the day.

  7. If you are hungry, we suggest you eat soft, temperate foods, as you will have an exposed root until your crown is installed.

With a final looksee, your dentist checks the bite and fit of the crown to ensure that you can chew, and comfortably floss, before it is cemented in place.

Over my lifetime, I’ve had a good number (way too many) crowns from several dentists. I love how the process works at our dentistry. It is so convenient. And the finished zirconia oxide crowns are beyond exceptional … professionally crafted for a perfect fit and bite.
