Say Hello to Pearl ... Computer Vision Technology now offered in our dental practice.

Comparison of typical x-ray and computer vision technology.

"Hello Pearl." Okay, I've said Hello. Now what the heck is Pearl anyway?

Computer monitor with Pearl Computer Vision Technology image and sample dental scan.

Pearl is Computer Vision Technology software which integrates with our existing x-ray technology to reveal the most minute or hidden dental issues previously undiscoverable.

Pearl is revolutionizing our dental practice. Pearl takes existing digital diagnostics to an entirely new level for us to provide the best dental care for our patients.

We won’t bore you with the gory details of how it works, but the power of the technology is mind-boggling.

The pictures tell the story.

Typical Computer Vision Technology scan.

This is a typical view from a Pearl scan which shows an upper and lower set of teeth. Note the bright pink callouts. These indicate a condition called caries, which is also known as cavities. Some of these caries may represent tiny holes in the enamel or dentin which over time will get larger and develop into full-blown cavities.

The green callouts represent tartar or plaque which indicate that your teeth need a good cleaning. Untreated teeth with plaque are subject to caries forming as the plaque eats away at the enamel and the resulting bacteria start destroying your teeth.

This image shows how a dentist can easily point out previously indiscernible issues to a patient via a computer monitor.

It is important to understand the size and location of the potential problem. Pearl allows us to precisely measure the size and degree of potential damage.

CVT image which shows previous dental restorations.

Pearl is one smart cookie. It can distinguish between the types of remedial therapy you may have had with us or previous dentists.

Pearl allows us to see the type and extent of any potential problems.

Pearl is anything but a one trick pony. With Pearl we have the ability to completely view and diagnose a full set of teeth in a heartbeat. It is a phenomenal and useful tool and lays the foundation for your treatment plan.

A variety of Computer Visual Technology scans.

In summary.

The reason that our practices in Oxnard and Camarillo have flourished for over 50 years is that we have always invested in the latest and most sophisticated technology to diagnose and treat our patients’ dental conditions.

Pearl isn’t an expensive option for you. It’s a tool we use every day … for every patient. Pearl images are available for us to enlarge and view, and attach to a patient’s dental chart. We can even provide you with copies of scans to take with you along with your dental treatment plan.

We still believe in the age-old adage that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

We have two convenient locations to provide the dental needs for you and your family. In Oxnard, call (805) 983-0717. For Spanish Hills Dentistry in Camarillo, call (805) 987-1711.
