Traditional Braces (Ceramic)
An option to traditional wire braces are ceramic braces which have a lighter color archwire and have a discreet appearance.
Rather than brackets which are constructed of medical-grade stainless steel, ceramic braces are made of a polycrystalline alumina that are either clear or the same color as your tooth. They are often called clear braces. Ceramic braces are nearly invisable, which makes this choice a popular option for working adults or college students who do not wish a metal mouth look.
The main drawback for the ceramic choice is financial, as the material is delicate and more expensive. The cost can be substantially higher than wire braces.
As with any other dental treatment, there are pros and cons for each orthodontic option. Your dentist will help you make the best choice for your particular situation, needs and desires.
